16 men sentenced to death after being found guilty of burning teenager alive

A total of 16 people have been sentenced to death in Bangladeshi, after they murdered a 18-year-old woman who refused to withdraw her sexual assault claim.

It is understood the 16 men including a headteacher who is accused of carrying out the sexual assault, were sentenced to death after the victim Nusrat Jahan was killed in April this year.

The sentences come after the young woman was lured to her death at a Muslim school before being doused in kerosene and set on fire.

According to reports in Bangladesh, Nusrat sadly passed away afer she sustained 80% burns to her body.

It is believed that the group carried out the brutal murder on the order from the headteacher who had been named as Siraj Ud Doula.

Doula had been accused of trying to rape Nusrat.

Despite claims from the defence that Nusrat had committed suicide, the sixteen men were found guilty of murder and sentenced to death.

Although the men have been sentenced to death, the defence have since confirmed that they intend to appeal the sentences.
