A community in County Clare is in mourning following the tragic death of a 16-yr-old boy in a single-vehicle road accident involving a tractor on Saturday morning.

He has been named locally as 16-yr-old TJ Chambers.

The collision occurred on the R458 at Bunnahow, a rural stretch located just north of Crusheen. Emergency services, including Gardaí and paramedics, rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead a short time later, reports RTE.

The boy was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Following the arrival of the coroner, his remains were transferred to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place.

As of today, the R458 remains closed to traffic. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently on-site conducting a detailed technical examination to determine the cause of the crash. Local diversions have been established, and motorists are advised to avoid the area between Gort and Crusheen.

This incident marks another somber addition to the road fatality statistics this year, prompting renewed calls for safety on rural roads.
