Pressure continues to grow on Boris Johnson who is fighting off accusations that he attended a garden party in the garden of Number 10 Downing Street during the first Covid lockdown in the UK.
According to the Metro, Johnson’s Private Secretary Martin Reynolds allegedly sent an email to Number 10 staff, encouraging them to “make the most of the lovely weather”.
The party was described as a “Bring Your Own Booze” gathering and around 40 staff are said to have come along. Boris Johnson is said to have attended with his wife Carrie.
An investigation has been started by Sue Grey but unrest among MPs is growing over the gathering, which took place while the public were being asked to curb their social activities, something which impacted on more serious situations.
Members of the public took to Twitter, posting messages about how they had not been able to visit loved ones in nursing homes and hospitals. In some cases they had even died without the comfort of seeing any members of their family.
There are calls for Boris Johnson to resign and the pressure is only growing.
