A woman in the UK has appeared in court on two charges under the Animal Welfare Act against a pony.

According to Sky News, Sarah Moulds spoke briefly in the Court, to indicate that she will plead “not guilty” at the full hearing of the matter later this month.

A video went viral online when it appeared to show her punching and kicking a pony called Bruce Almighty.  She subsequently lost her job as a primary school teacher and was removed from her role at a local pony club. She previously hunted with the Cottesmore Hunt which has now confirmed that they will carry out a full investigation before she is allowed to hunt with them again.

The video upset many and the RSPCA were called in to investigate the footage and it was seen widely as it was shared by comedian and animal lover Ricky Gervais, and animal conservationist Chris Packham.
