The victim suffered severe injuries to his head, face, and upper body. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for later today.
Two other teenagers were assaulted during the incident, though one successfully fought off the attacker. A care worker who intervened sustained minor injuries.
Gardaà are pursuing a definite line of inquiry into the fatal stabbing and attacks on staff and other unaccompanied minors seeking international protection. They are not seeking additional suspects, describing the event as self-contained with no ongoing threat to the community.
The scene at the apartment complex remains sealed for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. Authorities are appealing for witnesses or information to assist the investigation.
