Local reports have identified the teenage asylum seeker stabbed to death in a North Dublin apartment as Vadym Davydenko, originally from Eastern Europe.
Gardaà are preparing to initiate a murder investigation following the fatal stabbing of Mr. Davydenko, who sustained severe wounds to his head, eyes, chest, and hands during a prolonged assault in an upstairs apartment at Grattan Wood, Donaghmede, North County Dublin, on Wednesday morning. The victim, seeking international protection in Ireland, was killed in a residence managed by Tusla, the State’s Child and Family Agency.
Two others—a youth and an adult woman—suffered injuries in the incident and were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening conditions.
Authorities have pinpointed a primary suspect: a young man from another country, who was hospitalized with hand injuries. He is expected to receive treatment before Gardaà question him regarding the suspected murder.
The suspect was reportedly arrested at the scene after a fierce confrontation with unarmed responding officers. Sources cited by the Irish Mirror indicate that the quick intervention by these Gardaà may have prevented further serious harm or fatalities.
