
Two days after being injured in the car-ramming attack on a union rally in Munich, a two-year-old child and her mother passed away, according to authorities on Saturday, reports Breaking News.
Following the incident on Thursday, a 24-year-old Afghan man who had entered Germany as an asylum seeker was taken into custody right away.
He seems to have had an Islamic extremist motive, according to the prosecution on Friday, although there is no proof that he was a member of any radical network, reports Breaking News.
Police said on Friday that two of the 39 individuals injured in the attack were in critical condition.
The German news agency dpa reported on Saturday that the girl and her mother, a 37-year-old Munich woman, had passed away from their wounds, according to the state criminal police office of Bavaria, reports Breaking News.
It was the sixth in nine months of attacks on immigrants that have made migration a central theme in the run-up to Germany’s election on February 23.
