A construction worker who took part in, but was not responsible for, a “reprehensible” drink-fuelled attack on a man who died during a stag party in Athlone has been jailed for a year, reports Breaking News.
Paul “Babs” Connolly (48), single, of Edenderry, Co. Offaly, was found unconscious in the early hours of August 13, 2022, in Church Street, Co. Westmeath.
David Higgins (20), of St Paul’s Terrace, Athlone, pleaded guilty at Mullingar District Criminal Court last month to causing harm to Mr Connolly and being involved in violent disorder in the early stages of the fight, reports Breaking News.
Judge Keenan Johnson handed down a sentence of two years and six months on Friday.
