
Eve McCarthy, 21, has been identified locally as the Irish woman who her away following a fall in a well-known rock climbing location close to Malaga in southern Spain, reports Breaking News.
Ms. McCarthy, a native of Shankill, County Dublin, was a physiology major in her last year at University College Dublin. She also attended Dalkey’s Loreto Abbey School in the past.
The Kings Inn in Dalkey, where Ms. McCarthy worked part-time, closed on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday out of respect, reports Breaking News.
One resident said in a tribute: “Very sad news about a lovely individual with a wonderful personality and a mischievous smile! When she worked, the kings glowed. Too quickly gone. Rest in peace, Eve.
She was with a male buddy who, as he fell with his climbing partner, amazingly escaped by holding onto a bush-covered rock that protruded from the others, reports Breaking News.
When he was retrieved alive, he was reportedly in a state of shock.
The tragedy happened on Friday night near the well-known Caminito del Rey trail, which is close to the municipality of El Chorro. The climbers were in the Swiss Sector, which is adjacent to the Arabic Staircase, a hiking trail, reports Breaking News.
The mountaineers are said to have spent the day engaging in sports and to have been involved in an accident while descending after inadvertently choosing the incorrect path.
Police have been informed by the survivor that they lost their equilibrium, reports Breaking News.
