A man has been charged by gardai in connection with a bomb discovered in a vehicle in County Monaghan earlier this week. Officers stopped the car on the N2 just south of Carrickmacross on Wednesday. The suspect, who is in his forties, is due to appear before the Special Criminal Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 8.15 this evening.
This comes after a 25-year-old woman was charged over the same matter the previous evening. Isobella Perrie Sullivan, a law student living at Abbeylands Park in Clane, County Kildare, faced a charge of possessing explosives during a special sitting of Trim District Court. She was remanded in custody, with any bail application set to be considered at Monaghan District Court on Monday.
Gardai confirm that inquiries are continuing.
