A search is underway for a 24 year old fisherman who has missing off the Mayo coast since yesterday.
A Shannon-based coastguard helicopter, along with a RNLI Lifeboat, a number of commercial and private fishing boats and multiple coastguard teams are searching the area around Broadhaven Bay for the missing man.
A total of four units of the coastguard are also searching the local cliffs and shoreline for evidence.
The alarm was raised after the man’s boat was found on the shore at Broadhaven Bay yesterday evening, after he had been expected to return to Rinroe Pier at 5pm.
His boat, a 30-ft half decker was found on its side on the shoreline with power and lights still on.
