A 23-yr-old Australian man took his own life just weeks after his 23rd birthday after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
When his girlfriend, Hanna Smith received a text message from her partner Dave, she immediately knew what had happened.
“Thank you. You made me so happy.
Those eight words, a text message sent on February 3d, were the last Hanna Smith heard from her partner Dave before he tragically took his own life.
Just weeks after his 23rd birthday, the Queenslander was struggling after learning his stomach cancer was terminal and he likely wouldn’t see next Christmas.
Dave’s grieving girlfriend Hanna, 22, is determined to honour his memory and makes it a personal mission to help other young people living with cancer.
She began raising funds for the vital support group Canteen Australia.
“I just don’t want anyone to have to go through what he did,” Hanna told Seven News, saying his final words will be forever ingrained in her mind.
After a valiant battle with stomach cancer, Dave learned in January his condition was terminal and tragically took his own life as a result.
