Met Eireann is forecasting sub-zero temperatures for most nights this week, as a cold snap takes hold across the country.

According to the national forecaster, today, Tuesday, will be cold and frosty, but mostly dry day with long bright spells. Daytime temperatures will likely not reach double digits. Tuesday night is expected to be rather cold, with lows of -1 or -2C predicted.

Wednesday is forecast to be a dull and wet day, with daytime temperatures rising to 10C or 11C.

Thursday is expected to bring a mix of showers and sunny spells, with daytime temperatures reaching 10C.

Friday is likely to be a bright day, with just light showers at times, and temperatures remaining in single digits.
