A 31-yr-old man has been charged with murdering his own mother in Athlone, Co Westmeath, last weekend.

Nebojsa Pap, with an address at Beechville in Athlone, appeared before a special sitting of Mullingar District Court on Friday night, reports RTE.
Detective Sergeant Kevin Craig gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
The national broadcaster reports that the garda told the court that the 31-yr-old made no reply when he was charged with murdering his own mother Mirjana Pap at her home on Saturday the 28th of December.
As part of the inquiry into the death of a lady whose corpse was discovered on properties in County Roscommon earlier this week, a man in his 30s was taken into custody, reports RTE.
The man was being held at a garda station in the Midlands after being arrested on suspicion of murder.
