A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a deadly attack in Cork City that killed a 38-year-old woman, reports RTE.
The woman was found at a house in Cardinal Court, Wilton, after Gardaí were alerted around 10pm last night.
She was pronounced dead on the spot.
Members of the Divisional Cork Crime Scene Investigation Unit carry out a forensic examination of the house and its surroundings throughout the day, reports RTE.
We learn that the woman, the mother of a five-year-old child, was not at home at the time.
A family liaison officer was appointed by the Gardaí to support the woman’s family.
A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is being questioned at Cork Garda Station, where he could be held for up to 24 hours, reports RTE.
