Hours after the revelation that less than half of Irish Water customers have paid their bill, the first barrage of positive spin soundbites are coming thick and fast from Government and Irish Water’s quarters.
“A solid start,” said some in Irish Water. “Broadly in line with expectations,” according to the Government.
Meanwhile, Anti-Austerity TD Paul Murphy has said that the figure represents an “unmitigated disaster” for the utility.
It was also announced yesterday that a massive demonstration against water charges will take place in Dublin on August 29.
The battle rages on.
