A 5-yr-old boy has died after falling into a swimming pool in a tragic accident on his first holiday abroad, reports Metro.

Kelan Logan-Derench, from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, was in Egypt with his mother, older sister and grandmother when he died.

They arrived in Egypt on Friday and Kellan died after entering the water a day later.

Kelan, who was a pupil at New Hall Primary School, was described by a family friend as a “cheeky, mischievous, happy little boy”.

The fundraiser, organized by Serena Whitehead, who is close to Kellan’s mother Ciara, aims to raise funds to bring Kellan home and give him “the funeral he deserves” reports Metro.

She said the family was “absolutely broken” by what had happened.

Kelan was due to become a big brother in February next year.

To date, more than £12,500 has been raised in his honour.

Serena said on the fundraising page: “Kelan was a cheeky, mischievous, happy little boy, he was a younger brother to Cienna and was about to become a big brother himself in February 2024. Kelan’s whole family are absolutely broken and we can only imagine the pain they are going through, the least we can do as friends of the family and as a community is to help them by offering some financial support so that they can bring Kelan home and give him the funeral he deserves,” reports Metro.
