A powerful earthquake, measuring 6.2 in the Richter scale, hit Afghanistan and Pakistan at around midnight last night. The US Geological Survey recorded the event’s duration at 59 seconds.
The quake caused damaged to old structures and it is understood that up to 41 people have been injured, though there are no immediate reports of fatalities of major infrastructure collapse.
No aftershocks have so far been detected in the area.
