Those hoping for a fresh change in Government sooner rather than later will have to wait a bit longer, as there will be no election early in the new year.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that there are 14 bills pending to be published before any election is called, and has also confirmed a number of public engagements which would likely not have been planned had an election event been on the cards.
Referring to the infamous IBRC inquiry, he said: “I’ve undertaken to bring the heads of a bill and have it circulated.”
“The Government are committed to looking at the question of changing the terms of reference to be more specific, provide the resources (including the financial resource) for the Commission to do its job.”
