Review website Yelp has revealed that 60% of closed businesses in the United States will not reopen due to the pandemic, according to NBC News.
In their annual Economic Average Report, Yelp recorded that as of August 31st 163,735 businesses are currently closed in the US, marking a 23% increase from July. Of these, 97,966 are confirmed to be permanently closed, marking a bad turn for small businesses in America.
Yelp’s date suggested that businesses suited to take away orders such as pizzerias, coffee shops and delis have seen less closures than establishments such as breakfast cafes, sandwich shops, and Mexican restaurants who saw the worst drop in business due to Covid-19 restrictions.
