A meowing cat saved an 83-year-old woman after falling 70 feet off an embankment. The elderly woman was reported missing and emergency services began searching for her near her home in Bodmin, Cornwall.

However, on Saturday night, a passer-by heard the woman’s cat meowing. Piran, her cat, was in the corner of a cornfield, meowing loudly. Piran’s owner was found to have fallen off an embankment and fell about 21 meters into a wooded area.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue firefighters, with the help of a specialised water rescue team, launched an operation to rescue the woman. The woman was rescued from her predicament and taken back to the field where her faithful pet had sounded the alarm.

She was hospitalised after being taken by the Cornwall Air Ambulance Service, and the South West Ambulance Service also assisted her with treatment. The 83-year-old is said to be in stable condition by Bodmin police adding that Piran the cat saved the day.
