Tanaiste apologises in the Dail for contract leak saying he had nothing to gain from his actions

The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has issued an apology in Dail over the leak of a contract to The National Association of General Practitioners.

Speaking this evening, Varadkar said he made an error in judgement but reiterated that he had nothing to gain from sharing the document with Dr Maitiú Ó Tuathail in April last year.

The Tanaiste told the Dail that his intention was to secure a better deal for GP’s as he had unfinished with Health even though he was Taoiseach at the time.

Varadkar added that it was false and deeply offensive to suggest that he had anything to gain from his actions.
