No fewer than 1,170 civilians have reportedly been killed in the town of Mariupol in eastern Ukraine according to local sources.

The town has been under siege and constant bombardment by Russian troops over the last few days, with residents reporting they have no water, heating, gas, or electricity.

According to some reports, residents have been forced to melt snow to have a drink.
