The death of two neonates has sparked an internal investigation at Cavan Hospital.
It is understood that two babies died at the hospital last week.
In one incident, a mother was rushed to the facility to have an emergency Caesarean section. The baby was successfully delivered, but died within hours.
A second baby died on Sunday, while an emergency Caesarean section was being carried out. The baby died before the procedure could be completed.
Cavan Hospital has been in the spotlight before due to previous instances of infant deaths at the facility.
