‘Jobstowngate’: One released, three still held

The fallout from the Jobstown affair continues. One of the people arrested this morning, a 16-year-old male, has now been released without charge.

The other three, two men and a woman aged in their 20s and 30s, remain in Garda custody in Tallaght and Rathfarnham garda stations.

The early morning arrests follow the detainment and questioning of TD Paul Murphy, two AAA councillors and a member of the republican group Éirigí yesterday in connection with the now infamous Jobstown protest. During the event, Tánaiste Joan Burton became trapped in her car for almost three hours, surrounded by a hostile crowd.

All four were released yesterday afternoon.

The Taoiseach has thus far refused to comments on these arrests, or answer the accusations of ‘political policing’ made by AAA/Socialist TDs.
