We have all heard of the expression it is a dog’s life, well now our four legged friends are set to get a day dedicated to them as Ireland is set to hold its very first dog festival.

The new festival which will celebrate all things special about man’s best friend is being introduced by organisers in order to recognise the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, and to acknowledge dogs that work to save lives, keep people safe and bring comfort. The new event called ‘The Doggie Do’ will take place in Merrion Square Saturday September 12th.
There will be many attractions on the day along with a cookery demonstration entitled ‘Boneful’, led by dog lover Aoife McElwain, who will be showing how to make healthy, homemade snacks for our four legged friends. Organisers say the new event will be similar to the annual Halloween Dog Parade, which is held in New York City’s East Village.

They also say the event will provide a strong emphasis on responsible dog ownership.
