OJ Simpson is a free man again after he was released from a prison in Las Vegas on parole after serving nine years hard time for armed robbery.

Arguably one of the most infamous names of the late 20th century, the former American football star was sentenced to a maximum 33 years in jail for a botched raid of sports memorabilia from a hotel room where a guy was allegedly trying to sell Simpson back his own trophies and medals.

Simpson said the items were images of his family and friends and were later handed over to him by officials after it was decided that they legally belonged to him.

In 1995 he was acquitted of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in a trial that was televised worldwide.

A civil court jury subsequently found him liable for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5m in damages to the victims’ families, much of which was never paid.

The 70-yr-old was freed from jail in July but officially released today.
