A glimmer of hope? Indian summer predicted for next week

After a disastrous summer weather wise, some reports have emerged today indicating the possibility of a week-long Indian summer, right on cue when kids return to school nationwide.

Met Eireann has said that, while unsettled weather will continue right through Monday, from then on high pressure will take over, bringing settled and calm weather for a few days.

There will be good sunny spells today, Thursday, with a few scattered showers near western shores. These showers will move inland throughout the afternoon, and temperatures will hover at around 15-17C.

There will be a similar pattern over the weekend, with highs of 18C in parts.

Monday August 31 marks the official end of summer, and it is set to be a very wet day everywhere.

But from Tuesday on, the weather will turn warm, calm, and settled for a few days. At last.
