
Tributes have been paid to a “lovely and friendly” woman who died in hospital following a road collision in Co Clare last week, ahead of her funeral.
Emergency services, along with An Garda Síochána, attended the scene of the single-vehicle crash on the R458 at Rathfolan, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co Clare on Friday, March 27 at 10:50pm, reports The Mirror.
The driver, Geraldine Cullinan, who was in her 60s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries. She sadly passed away on Tuesday evening, March 31.
A female passenger in her 70s was also brought to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, reports The Mirror.
Geraldine is survived by her children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, neighbours, and a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss her.
She will repose at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Newmarket-on-Fergus on Monday, April 6 from 5pm to 7pm, with her funeral mass taking place on Tuesday at 11am followed by burial in Lemenagh Cemetery, reports The Mirror.
Many heartfelt tributes have been shared in her memory, with friends and loved ones describing her as a “wonderful and loving” person.
One mourner wrote: “Sincere condolences to the Cusack and Cullinan families on your sad loss. Geraldine was such a lovely, friendly person with a smile for everyone. May she rest in peace”, reports The Mirror.
Another tribute read: “We were so saddened to hear of Geraldine’s passing. She was such a lovely person and great fun. We will miss her. Condolences to all of the Cullinan and Cusack families on their loss”, reports The Mirror.
A further message said: “Sincere condolences to the Cusack family on the sad passing of Geraldine. A wonderful and loving person. May God bless her. May her gentle soul rest in peace”, reports The Mirror.
