A teenage boy has died after falling from an e-scooter in Carlow.

The boy, who was in his late teens, was travelling on the e-scooter with another person when they fell on Carpenters Way in Carlow town at around 8.30pm, reports RTE.

He was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries, before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he later died.

The second person, an adult in his late teens, was assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment, reports RTE.

Following closure for a garda technical examination, the road in Carlow has since reopened.
