There has been a very mixed reaction to a large number of armed gardai attending a Dublin halting site on Wednesday to ensure that a wedding marquee was dismantled.

Many on social media are saying that the whole operation was a complete and utter waste of garda time and taxpayers’ money.

Outside a halting site in south Dublin, where a wedding was planned for tonight, a large number of gardai enforced covid regulations and demanded on court order that a large marquee be removed.

It’s understood that a court ruling demanded that parents of the newly married couple removed a marquee that they had set up for tonight for an evening reception at a halting site in Dublin that would house some 60 people.

At least 20 Garda vehicles attended the halting site in Leopardstown with many people saying that gardai should be deployed to “real criminals in other parts of the city”.

The wedding Hummer Limo arrived from Co Armagh with the bride, groom and wedding party, but sadly the marquee has been disbanded.

It’s understood that a large marquee was erected on the site with a large number of people ready to attend the wedding reception on Wednesday night but that a smaller party is taking place in the family’s residence.
