Absolute uproar on social media over video shared showing victim of M50 crash




There’s been absolute uproar on social media following a video that shared of the victim of yesterday’s fatal M50 road traffic accident.

It’s understood that gardai have launched an investigation into video footage that was recorded and shared on social media yesterday afternoon.

The footage was that of a person who was killed from horrendous injuries in a crash on a slip road on the M50 leaving for the Finglas turnoff.

The crash at junction 5 involved a truck and a car and occurred at 11:30am this morning.

The disturbing footage emerged on whatsapp early yesterday afternoon showing the crash scene before emergency services arrived at the scene.

Social media users say that it was “absolutely outrageous” that the video footage was recorded and shared on social media before paramedics, the fire brigade or even gardai reached the scene.

Members of The Liberal team saw the video early in the afternoon with one reporter receiving it on a whatsapp message.

The video is 8 seconds long with text reading “F**k me that’s bad”.

It’s understood that garda were made aware of the video footage and have launched an investigation into whether it was illegal to share the footage in the first place.

Many people on social media have been outraged by the footage being posted and shared.

Upon deleting the video, we then were notified that it was being shared on SnapChat and various other platforms.

Please, if you receive this video – for curiosty to the deceased and their family, just delete it immediately and do not watch it. If you see it being shared, report it immediately.
