Eight migrant boys from Bulgaria, have been prosecuted after they raped a 13-year-old whilst walking home on a forrest path.

The convictions came after the brave victim managed to track one of her attackers down via Facebook, which led to a police investigation.

It is understood the young girl was repeatedly raped by the eight youths from Bulgaria as she walked home from a local swimming pool in Velbert, a town in the Western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Following her ordeal the young victim who was found hours later by a concerned family member, managed to inform police of attackers after she identified her attacker on Facebook as she remembered his face.

It is understood police who launched an investigation immediately after the report arrested the identified teenager and found footage of the brutal attack on his phone.

Although police only managed to arrest six of the boys aged between 14-17 years old last October, it is reported that that two other boys who were extradited back from Bulgaria were sentenced this week.

Reports in Germany say the main suspect behind the attack was given a sentence of 4 years and 9 months after raping the girl twice, whilst another teenager aged 15 was given a four year sentence after he was found guilty of raping the girl twice.

According to the German press, two of the other boys were given two year sentences, whilst another two were given suspended sentences for aiding the others in the brutal attack.
