Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn says NPHET is not fundamentally against the reopening of “wet pubs”

The acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said that NPHET is not fundamentally against reopening “wet pubs”.

Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Dr Glynn said the trajectory of the disease is much higher than were we would like it to be even though it is relatively stable.

Dr Glynn said although we aren’t against the reopening of so called “wet pubs” we would like to further stabilisation in terms of the spread of the disease before we assess the situation.

Dr Glynn’s comments come after the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee confirmed that the Government intends to announce a roadmap on the reopening of pubs as well as giving Gardai greater powers to shutdown unsafe public gatherings.
