American actor Ryan Reynolds has been cast as the live-version namesake of the cartoon videogame hero knight Dirk the Daring for the upcoming Netflix-exclusive Dragon’s Lair.
Dragon’s Lair, created by animator and film director Don Bluth in 1983, became a landmark moment in videogame history as it was the first game to run off a Laserdisc. The game’s cartoon-like animation drew in huge crowds to the arcade halls and a steady influx of coins to play just one more time.
The game has since been ported to countless systems, even as recently as 2019, when it was made available as a downloadable game for the Xbox One.
