Varadkar: I will not be going on the television telling people they can go back outside

The Irish government are giving nothing away as to when the ‘practical lockdown’ will end and when the ‘stay at home’ measures will be removed.

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was speaking at a coronavorus briefing in Dublin this afternoon and was asked numerous times about when this lockdown imposed on the public will end or how in fact it will be announced that it’s over.

He said that the government are trying to get their hands on more emergency supplies that are closer to home but will put the first Chinese supplies into immediate use.

Varadkar was asked about the current ‘stay at home’ conditions where he said that he will not be going on television telling people that they can go outside again. He said that things just won’t go back to the way they were on March 11th.

He went on to say that the situation will be monitored and that it will depend on trends. Many analysts believe that going by what Varadkar said, the ‘stay at home’ restrictions may go on for another four to five weeks.
