Adams: “I am hopeful of being Taoiseach by the time of Sinn Fein’s Ard Fheis”

The election battle is heating and Sinn Fein leader has seemingly got his eyes set on being top dog after he recently admitted that he is hopeful that he will be Taoiseach by the time Sinn Féin holds its Ard Fheis in April.

Mr Adams comments come after he gave a recent keynote speech outlining their election strategy, when quizzed by reporters asking whether or not he will be Taoiseach, Mr Adams replied: “It’s up to the people, it’s the people’s day coming up.” “One is always hopeful, but not for personal ambition. We are hopeful that as a result of the work being done across the island by Sinn Féin that people will consider, given that the others have had their chance or decades, that a new way forward is possible.” “It’s a matter of political choice so let the people decide and we’ll accept the outcome.”

Before adding: “The speculation of recent weeks will be clarified when people step into the polling booths this spring ”.
