Pop star Adele has cancelled her Las Vegas shows less that 24 hours before the first show was due to start.
According to the Irish Sun, the singer, who is behind such chart toppers as “Someone like you”, “Chasing pavements” and “Rolling in the deep”, was due to start a residency in the Nevada town but has had to shelve those plans and all 24 shows.
She posted a video online saying:
“I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to pull it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid.”
The Sun had previously quoted a source who claimed that Adele was due to make £500,000 per show during the residency, with tickets going for anything between £700 and £9000.
Social media users expressed sympathy for Adele, but many have also said that they are extremely disappointed – particularly as they had booked a hotel and made travel arrangements to be there for the shows.
