Due to pilots’ industrial action, Aer Lingus has announced the cancellation of an additional 25 flights, reports RTE.
In addition to the cancellations for Monday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 16, the airline stated that it anticipates announcing further cancellations early tomorrow.
Aer Lingus said that information on the cancelled flights is available on its website’s “Travel Advisory” page, and that affected passengers will get information about refunds and rebooking opportunities, reports RTE.
It takes the total number of flights cancelled as a result of the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) members’ work-to-rule that started two weeks ago to 573. The strike occurred last month.
This evening, IALPA will gather to discuss the Labour Court’s answer to inquiries it made on ideas meant to resolve its protracted salary dispute with Aer Lingus, reports RTE.
Pilot compensation will rise by 17.75% over the course of four years, according to the Labour Court’s recommendation.
IALPA is anticipated to make a recommendation about whether to approve or disapprove the proposals after its meeting this evening.
After that, members will have informational sessions and an internet voting procedure for pilots, which may take several days.
Aer Lingus will have to make additional flight cancellation announcements if the work-to-rule is implemented during this period, reports RTE.
In a statement, Aer Lingus said it “notes the Labour Court’s clarification of its recommendation, which had already been accepted by Aer Lingus. We look forward to IALPA completing the balloting process as soon as possible,” reports RTE.
