Small girl in Galway allegedly attacked by golden retriever settles claim for €115,000

In the instance of a youngster who was allegedly bitten by a golden retriever four years ago, the High Court authorised a payment of €115,000, reports RTE.

The court heard when the dog reportedly approached Kate Nolan, who was 19 months old, from behind, he allegedly clamped his teeth on her head, knocked her over, and shook her.

It was said that the dog was holding her face down while her mother beat and kicked it in an attempt to free her kid.

After undergoing surgery for scalp lacerations, she was sent to a nearby hospital and then needed to be transported to one in Dublin, where she stayed for five days, reports RTE.

She was left with scars on the back of her top neck and scalp, but a plastic surgeon’s assessment stated that all of the scars had grown and no more surgery would be needed.

Through her mother Leslie Nolan, the five-year-old from Kilclooney, Ballinasloe, County Galway, filed a lawsuit against Declan and Ann O’Grady, the dog’s owners, who are also from Kilclooney, Ballinasloe, reports RTE.

The dog’s owners were accused of failing to adequately manage or restrict it despite knowing or should have known that the dog had a tendency to attack or bite individuals in the vicinity of the O’Grady residence.

Additionally, it was claimed that the dog’s risk was not reduced, nor was it trained, muzzled, or alerted to bystanders, reports RTE.
