In a spate of nasty vicious attacks over the past number of St Patrick’s day’s festivities, Gardai have issued a stark warning to both nationals and tourists to be “safe and vigilant” for the entire week ahead.
The officers have said that especially on St Patrick’s Day itself, certain elements prey on what they see as quite easy targets and may try to cause trouble, steal and engage in a verbal or physical altercation.
With that in mind, Gardai urge the public to share their message of safety first:
“We ask all people out and about and attending the festivities to walk away from anyone trying to cause trouble. We also ask people to not engage with people who have a heavy amount of drink on them and if they see any trouble to ring the gardai immediately or if they see a member of the force to tell them immediately.”
