Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier announces intentions to sell off its operations in Northern Ireland

Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has announced plans to sell off its operations in Northern Ireland.

The Canadian firm says that it intends to “combine its corporate and regional jet units into a single aviation unit.”

The company employs about 3,600 people across its facilities in and around Belfast. The future of these jobs is now uncertain.

Bombardier came close to bankruptcy in 2015, after heavy focus on aircraft production failed to yield the expected profits.
