Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has insisted that the utility will not be put in private hands at any stage, after concerns raised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.
The minister made these comments in answer to a question from Sinn Féin’s Brian Stanley in the Dáil this morning.
Mr. Kelly added that some provisions had been made to ensure that Irish Water would not be privatised in the future, and that the Government had taken legal advice on the matter.
