There is said to be an almighty rift in the Labour party this evening, after Alan Kelly failed to win the party’s leadership.

41-yr-old Kelly is said to be “livid” with his parliamentary colleagues after he failed in stunning fashion in becoming the leader of the Labour party.

After his much publicised TV appearance on last Friday’s Late Late Show, Kelly practically said he was the new leader of the Labour party, announcing various plans he had.

But his party members, along with the public, are obviously sick and tired of him too. They voted Brendan Howlin to be the new leader of their party.

Now tonight, sources close to the Labour TD say “Alan is finished with Labour. He said that they’ve thrown all his hard work on Irish Water back in his face and he is going to resign from the party over the coming days”.

A telling moment to this was Kelly was not present during the announcement of Brendan Howlin, and also has made no comment of congratulations.
