There you have it so. Take it or lump it, in other words, according to Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly.
It emerged today for the first time that in order to get the €100 ‘water conservation grant’, households will have to go through a second registration process which nobody was aware of before.
Essentially, if you want to avail of the €100 grant, you’ll have to register with Irish Water before June 30.
BUT, if you want to ‘secure’ payment, a second registration with the Department of Social Protection will also be needed in August. Payment of the €100 grant supposedly begins in September.
Mr. Kelly said today that ‘this should not come as a surprise to people.’
And added, “No it wasn’t unexpected, in fact it was always announced that way,”
