Sheriffs investigating the death of a woman on a film set in the US have taken the mobile phone of actor Alec Baldwin.

According to Sky News, Baldwin surrendered his phone and confirmed that there was never any issue but that he would assist the investigation in any way that he could.

The set was thrown into disarray when a prop gun on the set fired off live rounds, and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died and director Joel Souza was injured.

It is reported that Baldwin’s phone will be examined for text messages, emails and other information.  His lawyer has said that the matter has nothing to do with his phone and that Baldwin did nothing wrong.

“The real question that needs to be answered is how live rounds got on the set in the first place,” he said.

Alec Baldwin has said that he did not know the gun contained a live round, and that he did not pull the trigger.  He has also said that he will co-operate in every way with this investigation so that the truth of the matter can be uncovered.
