Parents are being urged to be on alert following an alleged abduction attempt in Waterford City.
The warning comes after a young child was grabbed by a man near Rice Park, at approximately 6pm on Tuesday evening.
According to post on a Facebook community group page, the child was heard screaming which prompted the woman to see what had occurred.
In the post the woman said that a neighbour had seen the incident after the man asked her did he see his dog.
The man involved is described as being foreign national and had a sallow complexion and is approximately 5’5” in height and was wearing a blue hoodie, navy rain coat, jeans that were dirty on each thigh and brown boots.
