All flights across the US have been temporarily grounded due to a major systems malfunction.
No fewer than 1,200 flights in and out of the country have been suspended due to a failure in the Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system.
NOTAM messages inform pilots of potential hazards along the planned route, and this information is required before planes are cleared for take-off.
