26-year-old American aid worker Peter Kassig has been killed by ISIS.
He had been in captivity since last year, when he was abducted by militants while delivering relief aid to Syrian refugees fleeing the slaughter of the Syrian civil war.
Footage of the man’s killing was released over the weekend, and it has been certified as authentic.
Kassig had previously been featured on another ISIS video last October, when he appeared beside another hostage, Alan Henning, who would subsequently be also killed by ISIS. During that video, so-called ‘Jihadi John’, the black clad man acting as ISIS’ executioner had said Kassig would be next, and he has sadly carried out the threat.
This latest killing has been greeted with international condemnation.
