An Garda Síochána will recruit again for 2016. It has been confirmed that the force will hire 600 new recruits next year.

The recruitment campaign was officially launched today. Successful candidates can expect to begin their training in Templemore from the middle of 2016. As is the norm for civil servant positions, there will be stiff competition. In 2013, 4,000 people applied for just 300 jobs.

Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan said today, “We’ve always attracted way more applicants than available positions. We want to build on that, attracting people from every strand of Irish life to help us renew our culture while retaining our best traditions.”

Hopeful applicants can apply for the positions at website publicjobs.ie. The closing date for applications is January 5, 2016.
